World Mandalas Feb 2026
Sean Whitehills hand drawn World Mandalas is inspired by a vast range of subjects and themes.
The details are incredible, reflecting a dedication to this artform that borders on meditation and a flow 'that is cathartic'.
The exhibition has distinct sections ranging from Sunny Coast inspirations to Cafes and wildlife of South America.
On the screen - video of Richard and Justine Newport's unique 3D mandala.
When I came back to my sketch book as an adult, it began with images of the natural world as seen from hiking trails, beaches and national parks. Travel extended my reach, and I see now it was
inevitable that culture would also push its way into my consciousness, and so into the circles that I create.
As a gallery or a museum act as condensations of a regions cultural and creative history, the world itself is the scale version to the traveller. Have you ever left a gallery with a certain
openness, the fresh feeling of the possibilities of things? This is the endless value of travel. The reminder that our rituals and routines, our lifestyles are simply customs unique to the
generally small spaces we inhabit. Not right, not wrong. That there are endless variations across the planet, some with common threads and overlap... and others, entirely exotic, one to another,
customs evolved from unique experiences on different timelines in different places.
